Did you ever wonder what the yowie , bigfoot and yeti sightings were all about , I certainly did . When I was 7 our family moved from a small coastal town to a property on the edge of the wilderness . Together with members of my family I witnessed things that my parents had no explanation for . I realised at a young age that everything could not be explained and this interested me .
During my life I'd hear about sightings of the yowie and bigfoot . Was it all true ? I had no idea but suspected that there must have been something to the stories , why would anyone make a fool of themselves ? Australia's forests and wilderness were so rugged and remote , it wasnt hard for me to think that something could be hiding quite easily without detection .
On christmas day 2009 my father died of parkinsons disease . I analysed his life and what he'd achieved . Having a long hard look at myself I realised that I'd achieved nothing that really meant a whole lot to me as a person . I was getting older and still had no answers to the questions I had when I was a small boy . I was a heavy drinker , it was time to change .
I'd never seen a yowie that I was aware of but saw a large person in what looked like a black coat running up the hill quickly at the back of our remote property , the dogs were going crazy , did I see a yowie , I dont know .
I love the forest , I love photography and I love 4 wheel driving . Combining these hobbies would be possible so I decided that investigating this phenomena would be a positive move in my life . I never really expected to find anything .
In early 2010 I bought a trail camera and an audio recorder . Maybe I could find the answers I was looking for .
I had absolutely no idea what to look for . Did they make noises , did they leave footprints and where did they live ? Obviously they must live in the forest somewhere , but where ?
I took my nephew with me to a remote creek I knew about .The trail camera and audio recorder never picked up anything unusual . We went to a remote gorge next and still nothing . We then went to a remote valley , I decided that I might have to stay in one place for a while if I was to catch anything . Within two weeks the audio recorder picked up something strange . The audio recorder picked up a number of different bird's clearly upset about something . There was also something moving through the bushes , snapping stick's on the ground with it's weight as it moved towards my audio recorder . What ever it was , the birds seemed to be following it closer and closer to the audio recorder . It grabbed the tree my audio recorder was tied to and made a deep sound like a horse nickering , I'd never heard anything like it .
